«We improve the city»
Since 2011, Metinvest has been holding a competition to find the best social projects among public organisations, municipal institutions and local citizens in Mariupol and Kryvyi Rih. It covers various areas: healthy lifestyle, development of sports, landscaping and recreation, and environmental and energy-efficiency initiatives. Winners receive financial support to implement their projects. The programme helps to teach participants social project management, application preparation and project documentation execution.
Climbing centre in Kryvyi Rih
The Group has donated UAH140,000 to build a modern climbing centre in Kryvyi Rih’s Ingulets district. It features several routes of various difficulty over an area of more than 30 square metres. The centre is located in a park area close to the Ingulets sports club and is open to children and adults. An experienced trainer monitors safety during instruction.
Museum of Mining Equipment in Kryvyi Rih
Metinvest has provided a UAH150,000 grant to help open the Museum of Mining Equipment at the Kryvyi Rih National University’s Ingulets College. Models of mining, enrichment and transport equipment used at Ingulets GOK are presented at the open-air museum.
More than 500 students study at Ingulets College. The museum gives them the opportunity to improve their technical knowledge by studying real industrial exhibits.
Modern beach infrastructure in Mariupol
Metinvest has helped to modernise the municipal beach close to Mariupol’s railway station. That section is popular with tourists who arrive by train and with residents of the Slobidka and Havan villages.
Sun beds, tents and changing rooms have been installed on the beach. Volunteers cleared rubbish from the sand and repaired old equipment.
Interactive platform for people with special needs in Zaporizhia
The Group has held the “We Are the City” social project contest in Zaporizhia. As part of it, at the initiative of the Dyvosvit public organisation, an interactive platform for people with special needs was founded in the city. Swings with a special lifting device for people in wheelchairs have been installed in one courtyard.
