1006-brand steel products
Characteristics of SAE 1006
SAE 1006 steel is made from low-carbon material alloyed with silicon and is intended for drawing and hot-dip galvanising.
Classification: Low-carbon steel, alloyed with silicon.
Product: Rolled wire from carbon steel, produced using hot-rolling at a special wire mill.

Application
SAE 1006 steel is commonly used in manufacturing rolled wire with subsequent drawing and no prior or subsequent heat-treatment. Its chemical composition allows for a high level of zinc adhesion to the steel base and provides ideal conditions for the production of galvanised and rolled wire. The steel’s optimal mechanical parameters allow for high-quality thermomechanical processing by a wire mill, which results in high-quality rolled wire that is exceptionally ductile for drawing.
Welding
SAE 1006 low-carbon structural steel is ductile and not prone to brittleness or fragility. Any convenient welding method can be used: argon-arc non-consumable electrode, manual continuous electrode, and submerged argon-arc electrode with protection. Preheating and subsequent heat-treatment are not necessary.
