Application
Flat products made from 30MnB5 steel are used widely in agricultural-machinery production for making wear plates, grader blades, caterpillar tracks, lining and sorting plates, crushing plant, knives and blades, beaters, hand tools, ploughs, harrow discs, etc. 30MnB5 steel had advantages over its peers in that in its hot-rolled state, it is very ductile and better withstands cold moulding and cutting. Quenching and tempering leaves the steel very strong and hard, increasing the durability of the finished components, which tend to have lifespans double or triple those of items made from 65G steel.
Welding
Boric steel can be welded in its hot-rolled or quenched states, using the corresponding welding material. The general recommendation is to use low-hydrogen welding materials. Boric steel can be welded in its hot-rolled state using standard welding equipment for high-tensile steel.
